Unfortunately, this is going to be very brief. Sorry. But I thought this item "news" and a step beyond a comment.
Ahem...at any rate. It looks like Obama "lost" Margaret Campbell, the Montana superdelegate. Before your entrails clutch, however, it appears that the endorsement had to be "retracted" due to party rules.
At the same time, however, the same article says that Obama picked up another Montana delegate.
Follow me over the flip...
Here's the AP explanation:
HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Montana superdelegate Margaret Campbell says she is being forced to retract her endorsement of Barack Obama.
<snip>
Earlier today she said she was endorsing Obama, after the Illinois senator and rival Hillary Clinton visited Montana over the weekend.
A short time later, Campbell said Montana Democratic Party rules prevented her from endorsing a candidate in a contested primary.
Obama did pick up the backing of Jeanne Lemire Dahlman, a national committeewoman. However, Dahlman says she may reconsider if Montana voters pick Clinton in the state's June 3rd primary.
So! There you have it. I don't think that Carlson is switching or backing down. She appears to have been forced to make this announcement. At the same time, however, it looks like another delegate has been added. Score it as you see fit. I look upon this as yet another pick up. This is good. I start jonesing if a day goes by without the drip drip drip of a superdelegate endorsement or two. I think that we will see the flood after PA on April 22.
If this is old news, I'll be happy to take this down.
UPDATE: Actually, it looks as if Obama picked up another superdelegate from North Dakota...Dan Hannaher was added as an add on super, according to Dem Con Watch. I note that DemConWatch has Clinton with a 24 superdelegate lead at this moment.
